brasserie interior, Delft and on the lookout, Rijswijk

This painting is based on a restaurant in Delft, the Netherlands. After visiting the Vermeer house with prints of his paintings, I got inspired and saw paintings in everything. This was the first place I went to afterwards. Great light, cosy atmosphere.

I made this one close to home, on the border of Rijswijk and The Hague. It was a cold day with just bits of sun breaking through now and then. The old shed has a beautiful color in the sunlight so that's what I captured first. The horse was posing for me for at least 10 minutes! I could finish it in the field. What a great day.
